Special Investigation sleuths arrests 5 on conspiracy charges

Coimbatore: Coimbatore’s Special Investigation Unit sleuths have arrested five persons on Sunday on conspiracy charges to murder Hindu Munnai leader Arjun Sampath and Sakthi Sena leader Anbu Mari.

According to the police, the five persons were detained at Coimbatore railway Junction on Saturday afternoon after they arrived from Chennai in Alapuzha Express, the Hindu reported.

The police sleuths have interrogated the arrested persons for over 24 hours and produced them before the Fast Track Court I. They were later sent to judicial custody till September 4.

The Coimbatore has registered a case under IPC sections 143, 120 (B) and Sections 15, 16, 18, 20 and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
