Speaker summons newly joined TRS MLAs

Hyderabad, November 17: Congress MLA from Station Ghanpur T Rajaiah and an independent MLA from Ramagundam constituency Somarapu Satyanarayana on Wednesday stated that they would appear before Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar after November 22 to explain their position over resignations submitted for the cause of Telangana statehood.

Assembly Secretary S Raja Sadaram on Wednesday called both the MLAs asking them to meet the Speaker regarding their resignations. However, the MLAs said that since they are participating in Telangana Sadhana Padayatra, they would appear before the Speaker after November 22.

It may be mentioned that Rajaiah and Satyanarayana have joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi after resigning from the Congress party over the Telangana statehood issue. While Rajaiah was elected on a Congress ticket in 2009 elections, Satyanarayana was elected as an independent was supporting the Congress party as an associate member.

According to sources, the Speaker might seek clarification over their resignations from MLAs’ post and dispose their petition.
