Hyderabad, November 12: Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Saturday accepted the resignations submitted by TDP MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy and N Prasanna Kumar Reddy.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who was elected from the Nagarkurnool seat in Mahabubnagar district in 2009 elections, was suspended from the Telugu Desam Party. On July 3 he along with three MLAs Jogu Ramamma, Venugopal Chary and Harishwar Reddy resigned to their MLAs’ post demanding separate Telangana state. Later, he floated his own party Telangana Nagara Samithi.
It may be mentioned that Nagam approached the High Court on Friday seeking its intervention to ensure that the Speaker accepts his resignation. Earlier too, he staged protests before the Speaker’s office demanding that his resignation be accepted. Finally, his resignation has been accepted on Saturday.
Similarly, MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy was waiting for the Speaker’s decision since a long time. He was elected from Kovvur assembly segment in Nellore district on TDP in 2009, but switched loyalties to the Congress.
Consequently, the TDP lodged a petition before the Speaker seeking his disqualification. However, after the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy he joined the YSR Congress party. Later, he submitted resignation from the MLA’s post, which has been accepted by the Speaker on Saturday.
