Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked Commercial Tax Officials to take a serious view of the forged manual challans issue that took place in Bodhan Circle in the recent past. He also asked them to initiate stringent action and ensure that such a thing does not happen again. The CM asked the officials whether there was any scope of Bodhan type incidents anywhere and what are the preventive measures they are taking? He said a comprehensive probe should be conducted on such matters to bring culprits to the book.
A review meeting on Commercial Taxes was held here this morning at Pragati Bhavan. Finance Minister Etela Rajender, Chief Secretary SP Singh, DGP Anurag Sharma, CMO officials S Narsing Rao, Smita Sabharwal, Bhoopal Reddy, Rajasekhara Reddy, Commercial Taxes Principal Secretary Somesh Kumar, Commissioner Anil Kumar and others were present.
The Chief Minister has asked Principal Secretary Somesh Kumar to transfer the officials working in Commercial Taxes and Stamps & Registration departments in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, who are working for a long time. He said no official, who commits a mistake, should be spared. The CM said the Commercial Taxes department, which accrues finances in abundance to the State, should work effectively. “We have achieved the State with hard work. We should not compromise on putting a stop to corruption and this is a malady of the former governments. Though we have reformed the administration and governance but yet some people are taking undue advantage of our goodness. We have to catch such thieves and ensure that there was no scope for corruption in future. The corrupt atmosphere should not prevail in our State come what may,” the CM said.
The Chief Minister said the State government is getting a good name and several people are praising it. Against this backdrop, the Commercial Taxes department should become No. 1 in the country. He suggested to the officials to prepare a proper plan to strengthen the Commercial Taxes department. (NSS)
