Mumbai, April 04: The sixth Spanish International Film Festival jointly organised by the Pune Film Foundation and National Film Archive of India (NFAI) concluded on Sunday.

The two-day festival was held to promote the spirit of friendship between the two countries.

During the inauguration, director of Casa de la India (Indian cultural house), Gulliermo Rodriguez, said that Spain will donate Spanish films to NFAI.

Counsellor of Spain in India, D Antoniya Bookon Camerasa; director of NFAI, Prashant Pathrabe, top Spanish actresses Elena Anaya, Marta Atura and Lola Duenas; director and producer, Edmon Roch; producer Beatriz De La Gandara; veteran actor Mohan Agashe; film critic Samar Nakhate; secretary of Pune Film Foundation, Ravi Gupta and joint secretary Santosh Unecha were present.

Agashe, in his brief speech, wished the exchange of cultures between the two countries would continue. “The Spanish film festival received an overwhelming response from Puneites. Many award-winning and critically-acclaimed Spanish films made by eminent directors were screened at the festival. The films told universal stories and it was only the language that differed. Since the stories had universal appeal, everybody could relate to them,” he said.

Pathrabe dwelled upon the importance of NFAI and expressed his gratitude towards the Spanish delegates for offering Spanish films to NFAI. This addition will offer Indians the pleasure of watching Spanish films, he said.

The festival was organised by the Pune Film Foundation, Casa de la India in Spain and supported by the ministry of culture, government of Spain and embassy of Spain in India, in association with the NFAI.
