Six seed Indian Sowjanya Bavisetti caused the biggest surprise as she defeated top seed Xinyu Gao of China in the quarter-finals of the USD 10,000 ITF Women’s Tennis tournament in Anning.
Tied one-set all, Bavisetti won the match 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 by easily claiming the third set.
Bavisetti will now face seventh seeded Jia-Qi Chen in the semi-final, who defeated fourth seeded Chinese Di Zhao who retired after losing the first set. (ANI)
