Beijing: South Korea and the US confirmed today that they have jointly agreed to suspend the scheduled joint military drill.
In its official statement, South Korea’s Defence Ministry said: “South Korea and the United States have agreed to suspend all planning activities regarding the Freedom Guardian military drill scheduled for August.”
As many as 17,500 US military personnel were due to take part in the drills scheduled for August, AIR reported.
These soldiers were stationed at the South Korean soil to protect it from the northern neighbor.
With the US and North Korean leaders signing an agreement, North Korea no more remains an enemy threatening the world with its nuclear power.
Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White also the same and said that the US and South Korea are coordinating the additional actions.
Meanwhile, White House said that the US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor John Bolton would meet later this week to discuss the issue.
