New Delhi, June 15: Several areas in south Delhi today faced power cuts ranging from three to five hours due a technical problem in a major transmission line.
A power department official said the 220kv Badarpur Mehrali line tripped at around 11:30 AM and it could be restored only at 5:30 PM.
Areas like Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Mahipalpur, Saket, Safdurjung, Hauz Khas, Khanpur and neighbouring areas faced power cuts.
Power supply in south Delhi was also disrupted due to a planned shut down of the Mehrauli-Bamnauli transmission line.
The transmission line was closed yesterday to install a transmission tower near Rajokari flyover to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Indira Gandhi International Airport. The line will be activated only on June 20.
