Soring Temp at IPL`s Himachal Venue

Shimla, April 16: Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather on Friday with the venue of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches – Dharamsala – recording a high of 35.2 degrees Celsius, seven notches above average.

“Temperatures across the state increased due to the prolonged dry spell. The maximum temperature remained above average by five to nine degrees,” Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told reporters.

He said Una town, adjoining Punjab, was the hottest place in the state, recording the maximum temperature at 42 degrees.

Likewise, Shimla saw a maximum of 28.4 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi district 38.9 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu district 36.2 degrees and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded 23.6 degrees temperature.

However, the Met department said the sky would turn partly cloudy in Dharamsala later in the evening when the first match between Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers will be in progress.

“Though the first match is not likely to be affected, there are chances of one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers on Sunday, when the second match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings is to be played,” he said.

Singh said the western disturbances would bring rain and thundershowers to the state in the next few days.
