New Delhi, January 18: Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren and his two deputies today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed issues relating to the state’s development, naxalism and holding of National Games in Ranchi.
“It was a courtesy call. We did not demand anything but told the Prime Minister that while Jharkhand is a (mineral) rich state, the people are poor,” Soren told reporters after meeting Singh.
This was Soren’s first visit to the national capital after he took over the reins of the state last month and won a confidence vote in the State Assembly on January 7.
He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Raghuvar Das and Sudesh Mahto.
When asked whether he demanded a special package for the state, Soren said Jharkhand would first use its share of funds.
“We did not seek a package.
