Ranchi, February 21: The opposition today charged the Jharkhand Government with having friendly relations with the Maoists and said the recent abduction and release of the BDO was a pointer to the nexus between them.
“The Maoists have been running a parallel government in Jharkhand. The morale of the extremists has got a boost because of the government’s friendly relations with them,” Congress and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) said in a memorandum to the Governor, M O H Farooq.
“The recent abduction and release of Dalbhumgarh BDO Prashant Kumar Layek is an example,” the memoradum said.
Stating that reports of corruption in Jharkhand have hogged the headlines countrywide, the opposition leaders, who called on the governor, drew his attention to the February-16 countrywide raids by Income Tax that unearthed crores of illegal money.
“Therefore, we demand a CBI probe into various scams like allotment of mineral lease,” it said.
