Soon Parade ground near Golconda fort

After deciding to change the location of the Telangana State Secretariat to Erragadda, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that the Centre has in principle agreed to allot 40 acres of land within the vicinity of the Hyderabad Golf Course near Golconda Fort into a permanent Parade Grounds.

While inauguration of the Golconda Masters Golf Championship, Rao, said that “even today we don’t have a parade ground to hold a meeting with 1,000 people. There should be a parade ground under the control of the police and the one in Secunderabad is under the control of the central government. I have proposed to develop a brand-new parade ground behind the Golconda Fort,”

Around 50 acres of land behind the Golconda Fort will be used for the purpose. Rao credited its development to the combined efforts of tourism department and the Hyderabad Golf Association.

“Around 15 years ago this place was a municipal dump yard. To turn it into a professional golf course of international standards is truly a remarkable achievement,” he remarked. However, Rao, who also tried his hand at the sport, was quick to point out that to market Hyderabad as a brand, still a lot of work remained due.
