National Commission for Women, on Monday announced that the commission in partnership with corporate companies would impart technical skills training to students from underprivileged backgrounds through the Corporate Social Responsibility schemes.
Chairperson of the NCW, Lalitha Kumaramangalam, said that as a first step multi-national corporation General Electrics (GE) will provide technical training along with a stipend at their plants in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
Eventually, we can have this programme in Hyderabad too. “Any BPL student of pure sciences with a class 12 pass can apply for the programme. We hope this programme will increase employability, she stated. “
The commission also promised to conduct more public hearings including all the stakeholders. Giving crisp details about woman budget, she said Rs 1,000 Cr Nirbhaya Fund for empowerment safety and security of women was also sanctioned then.
