In order to get rid of the Parking issues in Greater Hyderabad limits, the GHMC is planning to construct multi-level automatic parking complexes soon. Due to lack of parking space, cars are being parked on roads causing traffic congestion.
Few Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai and other cities have such automated multilevel parking facility and soon Hyderabad is going to have such facilities.
GHMC has identified few places for constructing these multilevel parking complexes. They include Saraswathi Colony in Uppal, Charminar, Ashoknagar, Chandanagar, Old Bowenpally, Malkajigiri (Malkajgiri to Neredment), Shanker Veedhi behind old jail.
A four wheeler would be charged Rs 10 to Rs 15 per hour for using the facility. The ground and first floors of the multistoried complex will have vegetable markets, retail outlets and restaurants. The rest would be dedicated for parking. Based on the availability of space, 300 to 400 cars can be parked.
The car parking will have lifts, pallets and computerized control systems. The automatic system saves time spent in searching for empty parking slots and time-spent in searching for the parked car, officials added.
Once on the parking floor, the car pallet is positioned by the computerized system for optimal utilization of space. The pallets move forward, backward, left and right to allow the cars to be moved towards the lift for retrieval.
