Governor ESL Narasimhan has said that he would visit Sonia Gandhi’s house whenever he went to New Delhi just as any one visiting Tirupati would visit the nearby temples also after having a darshan of Lord Venkateswara. In a similar manner, he met Union ministers Narayanaswamy, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Chidambaram besides Sonia Gandhi during his visits to Delhi, he added.
On Sunday, the Governor had a darshan of Goddess Padmavati in Tiruchanur. Speaking to the media, he said there was no importance to his meeting either Sonia Gandhi or other Central leaders. Stating that his Delhi visit was of casual nature, he requested the media not to attach any importance to it.
Asked about signals on Telangana, the Governor pleaded ignorance and said he would like to know things from the media. He said he had prayed the Goddess to provide peace and plenty to Andhra Pradesh. When the media insisted on details of his trip to Delhi, the Governor simply said the tour was cool.
Replying to another pointed question on the Telangana March, the Governor said the Centre would not interfere with it and stated that it was for the State government to handle the event.
It may be mentioned here that the Governor spent two days in Delhi and met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Union ministers P. Chidambaram, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Though the Governor has said that he had not discussed any political issues with the Central leaders, reports said he was summoned by Delhi and had discussed about the ensuing Telangana March, statehood issue and law and order matters.
