Sonia visits model of ‘promised’ home at party office

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, on a campaign trail in Gujarat, today inspected a sample house of ‘Ghar nu Ghar'(own your own home), a promise the Congress has made to the people here if voted to power. After her public meeting at Kalol in Mehsana, she went to state Congress party headquarters at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, where a sample house has been built by the party. “Soniaji visited ‘ghar nu ghar’ and later appreciated the party workers present there for their hard work in the first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections and inspired them to continue working hard in the second phase,” a party leader said. She was accompanied by leaders like Mohan Prakash, Ambika Soni, leader of Opposition in the state Shaktisinh Gohil and party candidate Shweta Bhatt who is contesting against Modi. Congress, as part of its 12 point ‘Gujarat Development Vision 2012’, has promised to provide ‘ghar nu ghar’ to all the housewives in the state. The announcement was well received by the people. Even state BJP, in its election manifesto, has also promised 50 lakh houses to poor people in the state. PTI
