Sonia, Priyanka on a holiday trip!

Shimla, June 19: Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Vadra spent a brief holiday here during which they oversaw the construction of the house being built for the UPA Chairperson’s daughter.

Gandhi and Priyanka, who had arrived here on Sunday and left today, oversaw the construction of the house which is being built at Chhabra, about 11 km from here on the outskirts of the town, district Congress leader Kehar Singh Kachhi said.

He said they visited the site this morning too before departing for the national capital by helicopter from the Presidential Kalyani helipad.

Kachhi, who was present at the site when they had come, said Gandhi and Priyanka asked him to discuss with the architect the possibility of shifting the entrance gate of the two-storeyed house by a foot or two.

He said they instructed that the roof of the house be made of slate in the style akin to traditional Himachali homes.

The construction could be complete by the end of the year, the Congress leader, who is the caretaker of Priyanka’s land here, said.

During their private visit here they stayed mostly at Wild Flower hotel and ventured out only to visit the construction site.

Priyanka had bought five bighas of land at Chhabra in Mashobra area in April last year for construction of the house after she was granted special permission by the state revenue department.
