Hyderabad, July 21: The Telangana Congress senior leader and MLC, Mr Yadava Reddy, has said that he would write to the UPA chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi, and the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, urging them to direct the Maharashtra government to allow all-party leaders from Andhra Pradesh to visit the Babli project site before July 26.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly mediapoint here on Wednesday, Mr Yadava Reddy wondered as to why the Maharashtra government was scared to show the Babli project when there was no mistake in the construction of the project. He felt that while there was no mistake in TDP’s Babli project yatra, the Maharashtra police should not have assaulted the women MLAs. “The Maharashtra government should voluntarily show the Babli project site with dignity”, he added.
Urging the Centre to intervene on the issue immediately, Mr Yadava Reddy said that the Telangana region would not receive a single drop of water if it was true that the Maharashtra government was constructing 12 irrigation projects across the river Godavari without any permission.
Responding to a query, Mr Yadava Reddy said that there would be no impact on the prospects of the Congress party in the by-elections. “The by-elections are happening over the demand of separate Telangana State”. He also said that nobody was against the agitation against the Babli project.
