TDP president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today charged the Congress with trying to destroy Andhra Pradesh with political conspiracies.
Speaking to the media after meeting BJP strongman L K Advani, Chandrababu Naidu, who is here to press for “equal justice” for people of Telangana and Seemandhra, accused the Congress of playing politics and “bungling” on the issue of division of the State. He said he had apprised the BJP leader of the cut-throat politics being practiced by the Congress high priests for petti political gains. “Congress wants to create problems and draw some political mileage. This was their idea. So, I condemn the attitude of the Congress party,” he said.
“While the Chief Minister opposes the CWC decision to bifurcate the State and plans to stage dharna, the Telangana Congress leaders agitate for separate State on the other. Where are they taking the State? It is unfortunate that the Central Congress leaders were not able to pacify and convince its own party leaders of the State. We have been demanding that the Centre render equal justice to the people of both the regions again and again. We also advised the Central leaders to take a decision on Telangana only after hammering out a consensus among the State leaders by holding talks. As a result of its hasty decision, political instability prevailed in the State”, he added.
Naidu said it was his responsibility to meet national leaders to explain what was happening in his State and the motive of the Congress behind dividing the State. Naidu also dared Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to hold a protest against the State bifurcation outside Sonia Gandhi’s residence. The Chief Minister is supporting Congress candidates in Rajya Sabha election. On the one hand, he is praising Sonia Gandhi and on the other, he is fighting against bifurcation…Never in the history such a thing has happened?. (NSS)
