Congress MPs from the Telangana region met party president Sonia Gandhi here on Thursday and explained to her the seriousness of the situation prevailing in the region and the suicides.
Talking to the media later, they said that they were convinced that Sonia Gandhi was moving about in the direction of creating Telangana State. They exuded confidence that the party leadership would give clarity on the matter. They said that they had requested Sonia Gandhi to make party’s stand clear on the Telangana issue and find a solution soon. They said that they would stall the Lok Sabha proceedings even on Friday. Manda Jagannatham, Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhu Yashki, G Vivek, Rajaiah and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy were among those who met the Congress president.
SUSHMA PROMISES TELANGANA
Meanwhile, BJP senior leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj assured the Telangana MPs that her party would certainly concede Telangana whenever returned to power.
Speaking to the media, she said that she was shocked at the series of suicides occurring in the Telangana region. She said that her party would fight for Telangana. She also counseled the youth of Telangana not to resort to suicides and said that ending one’s life was not a solution to any problem. She said that she would voice the concerns of the Telangana people in New Delhi. (NSS)
