Sonia consults Patel, Digvijaya on PCC chiefs in Telangana

The process of appointing new presidents for Congress Committees of Telangana and Seemandhra regions gained momentum with party president Sonia Gandhi holding consultations with senior Congress leaders here today.

Gandhi’s Political Secretary Ahmed Patel and AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijaya Singh met Gandhi amid speculations that the names of PCC presidents for both the regions would be announced shortly.

Congress sources said while names of former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, former Minister Jana Reddy and Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy are being considered for the post of President of Telangana Congress, the names of Union Minister Chiranjeevi and former state minister Kanna Lakshminarayana are doing the rounds to head the party in Seemandhra region.

Singh had on Saturday told reporters that the names of the presidents and other committees for Seemandhra and Telangana would be announced in a couple of days.

“We are in the process of deciding PCC presidents of Telangana and Seemandhra along with election committee and election manifesto committee in one or two days,” he had said.
