Sonam Kapoor tweets on Shaheen Bagh firing

MUMBAI: Bollywood diva Sonam Kapoor on Saturday express her shock after Shaheen Bagh firing saying she had “never imagined” that something like this could happen in India.

Divisive politics

Taking to her social media handles, The Zoya Factor actor shared a news article briefing about the open firing and penned a message demanding that the government “stop divisive dangerous politics” urging her followers to believe that Hinduism is a religion of “Karma” and “Dharma.”

It read, “This is something that I never imagined would happen in India. Stop this divisive dangerous politics. It fuels HATE. If you believe yourself to be a Hindu then understand that the religion is about Karma and dharma and this is not either of those. (sic)”

She also lashed out at the army of trolls who went after her.

Two days after Jamia incident Gujjar on Saturday fired two rounds in the air in Shaheen Bagh area — a key site where an anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protest has been underway for over a month.

In a video tweeted, the shooter could be heard chanting “Jai Shree Ram’ and saying: “Iss desh mein kisi ki nahin chalegi, sirf Hinduon ki chalegi. (In this country, no one but Hindus can have their say).”
