Jaipur: In India, son preference i.e., desire for a male child has created millions of ‘unwanted’ girls. This was highlighted in the Economic Survey of India.
In many cases, parents prefer to have children until the desired number of sons are born. In some cases, women face touts for giving birth to baby girls.
According to the report published in News Bites, in one such case, a woman who had faced touts, finally, gave birth to baby boy after 11 daughters.
The woman is identified as Guddi (42), a native of Jhadsar in Churu district, Rajasthan.
It may be mentioned that out of her 11 daughters, two got married. The age of the elder daughter is 22 years.
It may be noted that it is not the first such case, another woman by name Laxmi had given birth to a male child after 10 daughters whereas, in Karnataka, a woman by name Bhagyamma had given birth to a son as 12th child.
