Mogadishu: Five people were killed on Thursday when a car bomb exploded close to a major hotel in Mogadishu.
Dozens of people have also suffered injuries and three building including hotels were damaged, reports Aljazeera.
“The explosion took place in a business centre full of hotels, fairs, shops and restaurants,” Major Mohamed Hussein, a police officer. Police warned that the death toll may rise.
The rescue operation is underway.
No terror group has claimed the responsibility of the attack so far. However, al-Shabab, jihadist fundamentalist group based in East Africa, has regularly carried out such attacks in the past.
