New Delhi, Sept. 5 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday lauded the Centre’s decision to implement the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, saying that the soldiers are happy with the Government’s decision.
“What Prime Minister Narendra Modi did today was something for which soldiers were waiting for years. This is a big step, and government should be praised for it. This was an old demand and the soldiers are happy with the decision,” BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today announced that the government has decided to implement the much awaited OROP scheme and its benefit would be given to all ex-servicemen, excluding voluntary retirees from July 1, 2014.
“The Government has taken the decision to implement the OROP. Under the OROP scheme the benefit would be given from July 1, 2014. The base year would be 2013,” Parrikar said at the press conference. (ANI)
