Solar eclipse observation sessions for schoolkid

Hyderabad, January 04: Planetary Society-India, which works for promot i o n o f space sciences in the State, is org a n i s i n g mass observation sessions at various schools for students to witness the annular solar eclipse to occur on January 15.

The eclipse, which will be partially visible in major parts of India, will be the best until 2019.

On the occasion, the Planetary Society-India is launching the Annular Solar Eclipse Campaign to impart training in `Student Space Simulators’.

Students nominated by their school managements will be trained in creating eclipse simulations of the Annular Solar Eclipse as seen by observers across the country.

These simulated animation will be distributed in 50 countries through the respective embassies and also across India before January 15. A special CD containing videos, powerpoint presentations and other documents wil l be distributed in schools.

Certified solar filters imported from Germany will be available for Rs 30 each to students of private schools and efforts are on to provide these filters to students in government schools with the help of sponsors.
