Solar eclipse on Jan 15 to be maximum at 1:32 pm

Hyderabad, January 09: The annular solar eclipse will be visible partially in Hyderabad on January 15

The eclipse will begin at 11:29 am and end at 3:15 pm.

The maximum phase will occur at 1:32 pm when nearly 77 percent of the sun disk will be covered by the moon as seen from here, according to the Planetary Society of India.

Annular solar eclipse occurs when the sun and the moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the sun. The sun therefore appears as a very bright ring or annulus, surrounding the outline of the moon.

As part of the Annular Solar Campaign the society, in association with Allens Group Foundation and supported by the AP State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST), will set up student space simulators to create awareness in school students and make them contribute internationally.
