The CBI central office has entrusted the sensational case of Sohrabuddin encounter to the AP Joint Director V V Lakshmi Narayana, who has been presently investigating the OMC, Emaar Properties and Y S Jagan illegal properties cases.
It is learnt that the CBI central office was satisfied with the way Lakshmi Narayana has been handling the high profile cases and decided to hand over the Sohrabuddin encounter case that has rocked the country to him.
As AP police also had a role in the encounter, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to hasten its investigation on AP link.
Following the Apex Court’s direction, Gujarat CBI team inquired the senior police officer N Balasubrahmaniam, ACP Ch. Srinivasa Rao and former DGP Aravinda Rao in the case.
It is alleged that Balasubrahmaniam, who was recently called to Ahmedabad for questioning, was alleged to have cooperated with the Gujarat ATS SP Rajkumar Pandyan in the kidnap of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi from Andhra Pradesh.
The AP officer also had booked a room for Pandian in the IPS Officers’ Mess in Hyderabad. The CBI bosses have reportedly decided that investigation on the role of the AP police could be hastened if Lakshmi Narayana was given the responsibility of handling the AP angle as he is based in Hyderabad.
