Ahmedabad, April 11: A special court today issued notice to the CBI, probing the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, after one of the accused N K Amin applied for bail today.
The bail application of suspended ACP N K Amin, was filed before CBI judge Jyotsna Yagnik who after issuing notice to the investigating agency, scheduled hearing for April 18.
Amin’s lawyer Jagdish Ramani said that since the case was taken over by the CBI in January last year, circumstances have changed with regard to the case.
He said that his client was in jail since January 2008 after the Gujarat High Court cancelled his bail, and has been in jail for long time and hence deserves to be let out on bail.
Amin had in January back-tracked from becoming an approver in the case by withdrawing his application that he had filed in the CBI court here.
