Lahore, July 17: Aamir Sohail’s serious differences with the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt may soon result in former captain’s resignation from the post of director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and Game Development.
Although there have been reports that Sohail has already handed over his resignation to a PCB official, a close relative of Ijaz, who had also been instrumental in drafting him into the Board last year. ”Sources however, said that Aamir was not making his resignation public at the moment because he was hoping to arrive at some sort of settlement with the PCB chief,” The Dawn quoted sources within the PCB as saying.
”They added that Aamir will only make his decision known in the next couple of days if things don’t work out,” reported the daily. There have also been news flowing in that as director NCA and Game Development
, Sohail had prepared various plans which were never accepted due to PCB’s reluctance in releasing funds to implement them.
To make matters worse for Sohail, the PCB Director Human Resource Wasim Bari had also issued an internal notice to him recently, demanding an explanation from him for not following the chairmans orders about attending the ICC Development Course in England.
Butt is already under the attack from former national chief selector Abdul Qadir and Sohail’s resignation could make the situation even more worse for the chairman.
