It seems to be the season of sequels in Bollywood as the sequel of last year’s hit ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’ goes on floors in April this year with the addition of Irrfan Khan and Soha Ali Khan adding to the curiosity element for the film. Soha is the latest to join the cast of ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’, which stars Irrfan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Randeep Hooda and Mahie Gill. Having signed the much talked about sequel, considered to be Bollywood’s quickest sequel, Soha is on a high these days.
She is looking forward to a meaty role in the sequel which will be directed by ace director Tigmanshu Dhulia and produced by Rahul Mittra’s Brandsmith Motion Pictures. Talking about her role in the film, which is much anticipated after the success of the original, Soha said,’I play the role of a girl with royal antecedents who feels betrayed in love and how she challenges to shake up the status quo as a result of this.’ ‘My role is very demanding and I’m happy to take up this uphill task. All hell will break loose once I enter Saheb’s Haveli,’ she added.
On casting Irrfan and Soha for the flick of ‘SBG’, Mr Mittra said,’expectations are going to be very high with our sequel and thus it was imperative to introduce characters which are integral to the story moving forward. Both Irrfan and Soha will bring a solid twist to the plot. Royalty comes natural to Soha and it’ll be interesting for the audiences to see the lives of Saheb and his biwi move forward once Irrfan and Soha enter their lives.’ Featuring Jimmy, Mahie and Randeep, ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’, which hit cinema screens in September last year, won audience as well as critical acclaim with the performances by Jimmy, Randeep and Mahie coming in for praise from audiences as well as critics.
