On Thursday at Outer Ring Road, a woman software engineer had escaped her kidnap bid by sending SMSes to her friends, who alarmed the police. The kidnapper had tried to make off with the victim in her own car when she was returning from a temple at Raidurgam.
According to the sources, the crook got inside the car and intimidated the victim that he had weapons and would kill her if she didn’t go along with him. He then asked her to drive towards Outer Ring Road, towards Himayatsagar.
“According to the girl, there was a man inside her Swift car when she was returning from the temple. He threatened her and asked her to drive ahead,” as told by a senior police official from Madhapur. The victim sent messages to her friends while driving, stating that she was being kidnapped.
According to the official, “She was going to Gachibowli, but the kidnapper asked her to take a diversion. While driving, she sent a message to her friends, who alerted us. We started a hunt for the car.” However, before the police could find the car, the kidnapper asked the woman to stop the car and ran away. “We found her later and sent her for a medical examination. She was not hurt in the incident,” said the official.
