Snubbed, Jagan weighs his options

Hyderabad, June 04: Snubbed by the high command, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy continued hectic confabulations with his supporters on the way ahead for him.

The immediate question before him is whether he should obey Delhi and call off the Odarpu Yatra in north coastal Andhra from next week or go ahead with it and face consequences. The other option is to make another visit to Delhi and try to get clearance for his proposed tour.

The advice from all his well-wishers is that he should not precipitate the issue any further and heed Delhi’s counsel. Some half-a-dozen legislators called on Jagan and held discussions with him. Union minister Sai Pratap, a staunch loyalist of YSR, met Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao.

Though there is speculation that Jagan might urge his mother, Vijayamma, to accompany him on his tour so that none can raise any objection, there was no confirmation of the same from any quarter. In fact, Vijayamma had agreed to be a legislator very reluctantly and that too only after personal intervention by Sonia Gandhi.

While there is a difference of opinion within the Congress on whether Jagan should have been allowed to tour Telangana, there is near unanimity that his general approach, otherwise, is quite hasty and not good for him in the long run.
