Shimla: Fresh snowfall swept the high altitude tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh while mid and lower hills of the state experienced widespread rains today.
Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti recorded 13cm of snow while Rohtang Pass, Darcha, Mari, Koksar and Pin valley had 20 cm to 35cm of snow.
Several places in mid and lower hills and Nahan and surrounding areas were lashed by a squall.
Shimla and surrounding areas were swept by showers and strong winds, bringing down the mercury.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district was the wettest in the region with 45mm rains while Bajura.
The minimum and maximum temperatures dropped by three to five degrees but strayed five to eight degree above normal across the state.
Keylong recorded minus 0.2 degree, followed by Manali 3.5 degree, Kalpa 3.9 degree, Shimla 10.4 degree, Bhuntar and Dalhousie 13.4 degree, Dharamsala 13.8 degree and Palampur 15 degree.
Una was the hottest during the day with maximum temperature at 39 degree, seven degree above normal.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region during next three days and rains, thundershowers or rains at isolated places for three days from April 22 onwards due to fresh Western disturbances.
