Dubai, January 19: Following the drop in temperature, snow covered the roads and highlands of Allouz and Tafha in Saudi Tabouk area, while heavy rain fell in Haql and Dheba governorates.
The civil defence team in Tabuk has been put on high alert, Sulaiman Al Huwaiti, Director of the Civil Defence, speaking to Saudi daily Okaz said that safety patrols were deployed to check the thickness and volume of the snow and called upon motorists to abide by speed limits under these conditions. He added that civil defence vehicles were ready to intervene in case of any emergency.
The Saudi Red Crescent has positioned three teams at Allouz and Alqan Mountains. While Mohammad Al Najar, Chief of the Traffic Police in Tabuk, called on motorists not to drive deep into the snow to avoid losing control of their cars.
Hussain Al Qah’tani, spokesman of the General Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Protection, spoke to Okaz saying that the rainfall will continue in the Kingdom’s northern regions, especially Jouf and Tabuk.
