Hyderabad, June 17: Three farmers were electrocuted when they accidentally came in contact with a high-tension line at Keesara in the early hours of
Tuesday.
Lakshman, 35, his brother Mallesh, 38, and their mother, Mallamma, 55, of Keesara died on the spot.Around 2.35 am on Tuesday, a high tension wire next to Lakshman’s house snapped and fell on their two tractors parked in front of their house.
The tyres of both the tractors caught fire.Lakshman who saw the flames first rushed out and threw water on the tractor in his bid to douse the flames. But he was immediately electrocuted to death.
“Seeing her son collapse, Mallama rushed to him and also got electrocuted. Mallesh who came out last also died on the spot when he tried to rescue his mother,” Keesara inspector T Manohar Reddy said.
Padma, daughter-in-law of Mallamma suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Ranga Reddy collector M Dana Kishore visited the spot on Tuesday morning and suspended APCPDCL’s assistant engineer of Ranga Reddy (South) Ramu.
The collector also ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident.
Police registered a case under section 304-A (causing death due to rash or negligent act) of the IPC against APCPDCL officials.
