SMS limit raised to 20 per day

Here is good news for SMS addicts. The government has eased SMS restriction from 5 SMSes per day to 20 SMSes per day.

In an attempt to curb spread of rumours that led to the exodus of North East Indians from several parts of the country, the government had put a ban on bulk SMSes restricting the mobile users to send maximum number up to 5 SMSes per day. And now it has relaxed the restriction from 5 SMSes per day to 20 SMSes per day which will continue till the end of the ban, while other conditions will remain the same.

The SMS restriction was worrying Telecom operators who feared 7-10 percent loss in revenues due to the 15-day ban. The announcement is certainly a huge relief for the mobile users especially youth who extensively communicate via text messages.
