Smriti Irani taunts ‘Chhapaak’ actress for JNU visit

‘Chhapaak’ Actress Deepika Padukone’s visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University has caused a massive stir with politicians calling for a ban on her latest movie ‘Chhapaak’ only a few stood with the actress.

Actress-turned Politician Smriti Irani reacting to Deepika’s JNU act, at an event, said the actress stood with those who hit girls with lathis, TOI reports.

“I think that anybody who has read the news knew where they are going to stand, knew that they are going to stand with people who wanted the destruction of India, knew that you are standing with people who celebrate every time a CRPF jawan is killed. She knew that she is standing with people who actually hit some girls in their private parts with lathis. She stood next to them, that is her right. I cannot deny her the right that she will stand with people who beat other girls.”


Previously, Actress Kangana Ranaut had expressed her stand on the same and said, “Masked mob attack occurred at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is currently being investigated and understood that there are two sides namely JNU and ABVP in the university. I must tell you that the gang war is quite common during college life. I used to stay at a girls’ hostel alongside boys hostel where some boys used to follow and murder anyone in broad daylight.’’

Joining the line, celebrities like Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Anurag Kahsyap, Vishal Bhardwaj, Taapsee Pannu, Anubhav Sinha, Dia Mirza and Rahul Bose among many others had joined a protest condemning the attack on Sunday.
