Smriti Irani pays surprise visit to Delhi school

Union Human Resource Development Minister ( HRD) Smriti Irani Thursday made a surprise visit to the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Sector 8 in R K Puram and participated in a cleaning drive as a part of the government’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign.

Promoting the cleaning drive, Irani said, “This is a message that the country is ours and our aim is that the environment and surroundings should be clean.”

“The curriculum is important as cleanliness should not only be the programme, rather a habit and a part of the lifestyle,” she added.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday gave its approval for the “Swachh Bharat Mission for Urban Areas”.

It is proposed to be implemented over five years starting from October 2, 2014 in all 4041 statutory towns.
