Smoke in compartment of Himsagar Express

Coimbatore: Anxious moments prevailed for some time at Tirrupur (TUP) railway station near here today after smoke emanated from a compartment of Himsagar Express (16318).

The incident occurred when the Kanyakumari-bound train stopped at the station, around 40 kms off Coimbatore, around 4 PM and smoke started emanating from its second compartment (from the engine), police said.

Railways staff found that the smoke was caused from a wire that got damaged due to short circuit and rectified the fault.

The train halted for nearly 30 minutes at the platform, where the express train originating from Katra in Jammu and Kashmir normally halts for two minutes, police said.
