New Delhi: The Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) on Thursday urged the government to reduce GST rate on batteries used in EVs.
According to the nodal body of domestic manufacturers, the GST rate on batteries used in EVs should be brought down from 28 per cent.
“The body sees unreasonably high GST as one of the key impediments… in achieving the electric-green vehicle adoption target as visualised in Government of India’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles policy rolled out two years back with much fanfare,” SMEV said in a statement.
