‘Smaaash’ your way to this culinary ‘Pit Stop’

New Delhi [India]: The adrenaline rush from racing a high-tech kart at high speed around a twisty racetrack as you jostle for position against other drivers can create quite an appetite. What if you had go-kart racing and a large drink and food menu all in one stop?

Offering a closed-circuit option to the speed-lovers, the sports-based entertainment and gaming company Smaaash has a 500-metre-long multi-tiered track built in, which is five metres wide and has 11 left corners and 12 right corners and two zigzag patterns on solid concrete.

For a fee, you can strap into one of these electric beasts and drive around a neon-lighted track, reaching high speeds and nothing holding you back for five minutes.

Non-drivers too can have their share of fun with this neighbourhood sport. This was my first time behind the wheels, but I did manage to complete my heat. Though I grabbed the last spot, it didn’t matter as the thrilling experience did pack quite a punch.

After all that racing rush, you need to get your energy levels sorted and so you can head on over to Smaaash’s Pitstop Brewpub right away, which is India’s biggest truck restaurant and bar and has got a fresh microbrewery, banquet space for 200 guests and a live kitchen.

The 160-feet-long truck has quirky interiors, highlighted by old rustic wooden drawer panelling with cosy amber lighting, contemporary furniture and decors like wheels, steering, horns that gives it a look of garage.

Whether you like soaking in the sun while you brunch or prefer a candlelight dinner under the stars, this restaurant’s patio won’t disappoint you.

The craft beer revolution is well established in northern Europe and North America and now it has finally trickled down to Delhi NCR, thanks to this new pub.

From Galloway, a pale coloured beer with a Scotch whiskey finish to Falcon, a Dunkel chocolate beer, there’s a lot of beer going on in here. The bar menu also features a wide variety of cocktails including classics as well as quirky ones.

The eatery has a very varied menu to offer – from North Indian to South Indian as well as Italian to Thai cuisine that includes Chinese Taco Bhel, salads, soups, pizzas, breads and desi meals.

My food journey began with some delectable cheese rolls, beer battered fish and chips, prawns, mushrooms stuffed with cheese, thyme, spinach and basil, crispy chicken wings and a few glasses of cocktails and ended with some delicious desserts- gooey chocolate brownie and red velvet cake.
