According to an estimate by The Malala Fund, about USD 39 billion would be required every year to fund the schooling.
While addressing a United Nations education summit in Oslo, Yousafzai said it may appear to be a huge number but “it is not much at all” in reality, adding USD 39 million was spent on military in only eight days, reported the Dawn.
“My message is that in these goals secondary education would be ensured”, she said.
She met World Bank President Jim Yong Kim last month to discuss the UN’s upcoming package of Sustainable Development Goals that it plans to release later this year.
Yousafzai was shot in the head by Taliban militants in 2012 for supporting girls’ education in Pakistan. She was awarded Nobel Peace Prize along with Indian children’s rights activist Kailash Satyarthi in December last year. (ANI)
