Hyderabad, May 12: The body of woman constable Lalitha, who was killed by her fellow constable V Srinivas, was handed over to her parents on Tuesday.
The deceased’s parents, Chandrashekar and Mani told police they were ignorant of the fact that Lalitha was having an affair with Srinivas.
They also informed police they recently finalised a match for her and she had even got engaged. “In the coming months, Lalitha’s was supposed to get married but before that her lover Srinivas killed her,” Kukatpally sub-inspector Nageshwar Rao said.
It must be noted that around 4 a.m on Monday, Srinivas had gone to the first floor of the police station along with his 0.303 rifle. Lalitha, his girlfriend was reportedly sleeping in one of the cubicles, when Srinivas allegedly opened fire at Lalitha. Later, Srinivas attempted suicide by shooting himself.
Both were rushed to the Apollo hospital in Banjara Hills, where Lalitha died on Monday evening while undergoing treatment. However, the condition of Srinivas is said to be out of danger but he is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“We could not record his statement since he is still under treatment inside the ICU,” Nageshwar Rao said.
