Skill development on mission mode: SP Singh

Stressing the need for promotion of skill development among the youth, Chief Secretary S P Singh today directed the officials to focus on getting adequate funds from the Central-sponsored schemes. He said skill development programs should be taken up on mission mode and ensure that efforts are made in that direction.

The Chief Secretary held a high-level review meeting on skill development policy, Central schemes and training to be offered to youth on various developmental works. The CS said, “We must take up skill develop programs in such a way that the youth will get jobs immediately”. SP Singh instructed the officials to make persistent efforts at the Centre to get funds from the sponsored schemes. He also discussed on the skill development policy, steps needed at all levels, coordination of departments, programs for skill development and related policy and others.

The officials informed the Chief Secretary about the TASK, NAC and EGMM programs and their progress. Singh also discussed with the officials about the Central schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Appetins Prostan Yojana, DDUGKY (Deen Dayal Grameen Kaushalya Yojana). Singh asked the officials to get CSR funds for training from various organizations like MPLAD, MLA, MLC development funds and take up skill development training to youth in the State. He also directed the officials to take immediate steps for the program for training, setting up of placement cells, infrastructure and project monitoring unit and so on. (NSS)
