Skeletons out of graves in Saudi

Riyadh, August 24: Skeletons surfacing on the ground in a remote Saudi cemetery as if they are forcing their way out of their graves are sending shivers across a tiny village in the Gulf Kingdom.

Although it is a macabre scene, the villagers do not appear to be superstitious as they believe the bones are dug out by stray animals and soil erosion.

“The villagers have expressed resentment at what is happening inside that graveyard…they have appealed for authorities to act but have received no response,” Sabq daily said in a report from the western town of Qunfuda.

“The villagers want authorities to bury the skeletons again and put up walls to protect the dead against soil erosion and hungry stray animals which often come to the cemetery and dig out graves.”
