A 60year-old man found guilty of murdering his wife was sentenced to life imprisonment by the sessions court here on Wednesday. According to a press release issdued by the office of the Superintendent of Police here, the incident dates back to June 26, 2012, when the accused Sudhakar Vithoba Misalwar (60), a resident of Tohgaon village in Pombhurna tehsil of the district had an altercation with his wife Mayabai Sudhakar Misalwar (50) over some domestic issue at about 6.30 pm. In a fit of rage, he allegedly hit Mayabai with some hard object on her head and strangulated her, resulting in her death. Following a complaint lodged by Anita Vijay Misalwar (30) at Kothari police station, Assitant Police Inspector A G Chandewar investigated the case and registered an FIR against Sudhakar under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Additional Sessions Judge Justice Bhaisare sentenced Sudhakar to life imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 1000, after being found guilty of murdering his wife. The judgement also stipulated an additional term of imprisonment for a month, if the fine imposed on him is not paid. Advocate Jayant Salve was the government pleader representing the police department in the case, the release said. PTI
