New Delhi, July 26: Police say tourist visas being used, third such case in one month. Police arrested six Uzbek women late on Sunday night from South-East Delhi for their alleged involvement in a sex-racket.
The main accused person, a woman, who allegedly ran the racket is also from Uzbekistan and is absconding. Police have seized two registers from the premises.
According to authorities, the modus operandi of the accused was to bring women into India on a tourist visa and indulge them into flesh trade.
“The main accused woman has been operating the racket in India for over three years. She is married to an Indian but does not live with him. She regularly trafficked girls from Uzbekistan to Delhi and arranged for their transport and accommodation. The girls used to live at rented accomodations in GK II, Safdarjung enclave and Arjun Nagar,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ashok Chand, said.
This is the third sex racket busted by the police in less than a month allegedly involving foreign sex workers. On July 18, police arrested seven women from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, who were operating from a house in South-Extension. On June 22, five Uzbek women were arrested from south Delhi.
“Most of these women come from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine and are aged between 21 to 29. It is being verified if any of them were forced to come to India and indulge in flesh trade. Most just come to India on tourist visas and earn money in this manner. The women return just as their visa is about to expire,” he said.
Chand added that the racket operate through an intricate telephone network.
