Six persons arrested for auto-lifting

New Delhi, November 10: Delhi Police today claimed to have cracked a gang of auto-lifters allegedly involved in more than 100 cases with the arrest of six persons here.

The arrested were identified as Sonu Pathak, Raju Hitler, Vishaila, Shakir, Mujir and Sangeet Sharma, a senior police officer said, adding 16 stolen cars were recovered from them.

“Members of above gang are involved in more than 100 cases of auto-lifting in Delhi and adjoining states,” the officer said.

Sonu Pathak and Raju were the first to be arrested, he said, adding the others were caught following their interrogation.

“There are more than 12 members in the gang, including auto lifters, receivers, and mechanics who used to tamper engine and chasis numbers of stolen cars,” the officer said.
