Six newly elected members take oath in Assembly

The six newly elected members– four belonging to TRS and one BJP and an Independent –in the recently held by-elections were sworn in as members of the State Assembly on Monday.

The Speaker Mr. Nadendla Manohar administered the oath to Jupalli Krishna Rao , Jogu Ramanna, Gampa Goverdhan and Rajaiah (all TRS), Srinivas Reddy (BJP), and Nagam Janardhan Reddy (Indp). Mr. N. Prasanna Kumar Reddy who also got elected as YSR Congress nominee could not take the oath and is expected to be sworn in on March 29.

Soon after taking oath the TRS members raised Jai Talngana slogans. The Independent member Nagam Janardhan Reddy took his oath in the memorary of Telangana martyrs.The strength of the TRS has now increased to 16 and BJP to 3.

Earlier the TRS and BJP members paid homage at the Martyrs Memorial in Gun Park and came to the Assembly, while Mr. Janardhan Reddy came to the Assembly in a convoy of his supporters after paying homage at Gun Park. The police prevented his supporters at the gate.

The police made elaborate security arrangements in and around the legislature in view of the call for ” Chalo Assembly” given by various political parties and organizations demanding implementation of SC and ST sub-plan. Barricades were errected at various points leading to the Assembly causing innumerable hardships to people, especially the office-going employees. In fact the TRS members even raised the issue on the floor of the Assembly and questioned whether the ruling party has converted the state capital into a police raj.(NSS).
